National Agency for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises and Co-operatives took over the activity of the Ministry of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises and Co-operatives.

OUR VISION

The perspective of Romania 's integration into the European Union in the year 2007 imposes to our country to speed up structural reforms, to reach a high level of competitiveness in order to face the competitive forces of the Single Market.

The Government is firmly engaged in the process of improving business environment, reforming fiscal and legal system, in order to stimulate initiative and investments in Romanian economy. In the same time, for solving our competitiveness problems, Government will continue to act, through the National Agency for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises , for improving the access of SMEs to financing, financial support of investments in equipment, new technologies and products, ensuring the access to the results of research and development activities, facilitating cross-border co-operation, promoting Romanian products to export, and developing an appropriate business infrastructure.

OUR PRINCIPLES

Principles that will be followed for developing SMEs sector:

• Ensuring a coherence of strategies developed at governmental level with an impact to SMEs sector;
• Granting a financial support by state compatible with European Commission recommendations;
• Measures of supporting SMEs should not distort the working of market mechanisms;
• Ensuring the transparency of actions focused on developing SMEs sector;
• Middle term development strategy for SMEs will be regularly updated according to designed and implemented measures;
• A special attention will be granted to the development of SMEs in regions in which social and industrial infrastructure is weak, and unemployment rate high;

Romanian Government will co-operate tightly with organisations having an impact on the development of SMEs sector
